On this module students will acquire the following skills:
• A basic understanding of effective outreach and pedagogy
• Proficiency in the use of communication tools and techniques such as poster design, blogging, vlogging, and podcasting
• The ability to use professional communication tools and technology to design and deliver a wide range of effective materials to support the School’s “Access Classics” outreach programme
In the course of this module, students will learn some of the basics of effective pedagogy and put this experience into practice in designing teaching materials and other outreach documents (such as posters, podcasts, virtual tours etc.) for the use of school students. Topics covered will include such as lesson planning; the design and delivery of effective quizzes; how to plan and record a podcast; techniques of effective blogging; the use of social media to propagate outreach; and other relevant skills and technologies.

Feedback will be delivered on an ongoing basis as an inherent part of the activities that take place in studio and lecture classes. Peer review is an essential part of this feedback and all students will be expected to contribute constructively in this area.
