GEOG41010 Health Care Crises

Academic Year 2020/2021

**Important note about module delivery due to Covid-19**
In light of the evolving Covid-19 situation, it is not possible to determine the proportion of online vs. face-to-face delivery for this module. As of this writing, I am planning to hold the first few weeks online and see how it goes--we will discuss this at our first meeting. In any case, online portions will be delivered in the form of Zoom/virtual classroom weekly meetings or equivalent and discussion and understanding of class materials will remain adequate. This is not a module whose delivery is affected negatively whether it is online or face to face.

Module content: This module combines the study of political economy and health/health care. Some weeks, for example, will focus on topics like neoliberalism and privatisation, while others will be concerned with health care reforms and transformations. It is also intended that students will use the module to develop their own research project, possibly to be developed into their Masters' thesis.

Weekly lectures/seminars will be held to discuss assigned readings. Student presentations and participation are key. As mentioned, due to the Covid-19 situation, this module may include online and/or face to face delivery. Whatever the delivery type, learning outcomes will remain the same and engagement with the material will be adequate to the purposes of the module.
