EDUC41990 Global Classroom

Academic Year 2017/2018

This module provide students with a general introduction to the basic competencies and practical skills required of a “generalist” development practitioner. The module knits with offerings from a number of prestigious universities around the world, and each week students have the opportunity to learn from expert practitioners and engage in discussion on topics relating to development practice and education. Course topics are grounded in a practical, multi-disciplinary approach that focuses on inter-relationship and capability-buliding. Both conceptual and practical issues are stressed throughout. The modules leverage innovative web-based technologies to share lectures and to facilitate international discussion and collaboration among students at participating universities. The Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning (CNMTL) supports the interactive, web-based components of the course including the development of electronic learning resources and the lecture videos.
