ECON42370 Behavioural Economics Thesis

Academic Year 2019/2020

Students will conduct a supervised research dissertation in any area of behavioural economics. The student will be responsible for designing their own research project in collaboration with one (or two) supervisor(s). This project may take the form of an empirical analysis or else a theoretical analysis of a specific topic.

Learning Outcomes:

The key learning outcomes for the MSc thesis are for the student to demonstrate:

- Specialist knowledge in the area of their research.
- The ability to initiate research and to formulate viable research questions.
- The capacity to design, conduct and report original research.
- The ability to evaluate and synthesize research-based and scholarly literature.
- The ability to critique literature and conduct analyses at a Masters level.
- The ability to undertake and present empirical/theoretical work.
- Present research findings and argument in a suitably structured and sequenced thesis that conforms to protocols of academic presentation and research practice.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Students will receive detailed instructions in class settings on how to approach and develop their MSc dissertation. They will also be assigned an individual supervisor to guide them on the process.
