COMP40010 Performance of Computer Systems

Academic Year 2020/2021

This module provides students with an introduction to performance engineering applied to software systems, including cloud-based systems. Topics may include Measurement Techniques and Tools, Probability and Queueing Models, Test Design and Analysis, and Simulation. The practical work will provide experience with techniques for performance assurance and testing, for example: design of performance tests; model generation; model simulation; analysis and presentation of results. Please note that this module's practical work and assignments are done in groups of 2 or 3 students; significant work on the assignments outside the scheduled practical sessions is to be expected.
