This module is an advanced Chinese writing course provided to Law students. Students will learn legal terms in Chinese in order to acquire basic writing skills of legal documents. Through reading legal documents in Chinese, students will become familiar with basic format and writing requirements.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
1) acquire specialized Chinese legal terminology;
2) understand common Chinese legal documents;
3) grasp basic format and requirements of legal documents;
4) compose common legal documents independently.

Requirements, Exclusions and Recommendations
Learning Requirements:

In order to take this module, students need to have prior knowledge which is equivalent to HSK Level 6.

Learning Exclusions:

Students who are native Mandarin speakers are not eligible to take this module as an elective.

The lecturer reserves the right to assess the language competence of all students. Students whose competence is incompatible with the level of their chosen elective module will be advised to transfer to a more appropriate language module.
