CHEM40280 Chemistry Seminar Programme II

Academic Year 2023/2024

This is an all-year module taken by students in the 2nd Year of their PhD (special arrangements are in place for January start students - contact School of Chemistry and Chemical Biology Office). The module aims to provide exposure to recent research developments in Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Students will be required to attend a minimum of 12 scientific seminars from external speakers to UCD/TCD. This includes School seminars, RSC seminars and those provided in other Schools and Institutes such as the Conway Institute. The student will maintain a record of the seminars they have attended. They will be required to analyse each of 12 seminars providing a brief summary of what they learnt or felt most important in each case. The seminars used cannot have been used previously for assessment in any other PhD Graduate student module. The number of seminars that can be taken from conferences or half-day or one-day symposia run in TCD or UCD is limited (see Module Co-ordinator for details).
