On completion of this module, students should be able to: 1. Design and perform experiments using technical skills acquired in their research project. 2. Analyse and critically-evaluate scientific data. 3. Perform a literature search and review scientific papers relevant to their project. 4. Present their research finding in an oral presentation. 5. Write a scientific report.

Throughout the project students will receive informal feedback on their performance as well as feedback on data analysis, data interpretation and data presentation from their project supervisor. Students are offered the opportunity to deliver a practice presentation and obtain feedback from their UCD mentor prior to delivering the assessed presentation. Students submit a complete draft of their project report (thesis) to their UCD mentor and will receive detailed feedback prior to submitting the final version of the thesis.
