Strategy addresses the central issues faced by managers when attempting to secure the long run viability of their organisations. The primary focus of the module is on identifying and analysing the sources of advantage available to the firm, and on developing potential strategies around these elements. In particular, we will examine the frameworks and concepts available to managers when making decisions concerning the competitive position, scope and direction and of their organisations.

On completing this module you will be expected to be able to:

1. Draw on the tools of strategy to analyse and identify the key sources of competitive advantage for an organisation and develop potential strategies around these elements.
2. Evaluate how well a strategy is working.
3. Understand and articulate the various perspectives in this field of study.
