BMGT10140 Business Plan

Academic Year 2023/2024

This is a core course on the preparation of a Business Plan for a new business start-up. The key elements of a Business Plan are examined such as Formulating Objectives and Goals, Environmental analysis, Marketing Strategy selection, Operational Strategy selection Competitive analysis and Financial Strategy selection. Students will need to demonstrate the ability to develop and present the Business Plan. The course will be assessed on the completion of and the presentation of a detailed written project.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students should be able to:
- Understand the role and functions of Business Plan in the context of anew venture start-up.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce and present a detailed Business Plan.
- Understand and demonstrate the core principles of Formulating Objectives and Goals, Environmental analysis, Marketing Strategy
selection, Operational Strategy selection Competitive analysis and Financial Strategy selection.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and present the Business Plan.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This module will be taught in a workshop environment where students will be challenged to actively participate in group work when constructing their Business Plan and Presentation Pitch.
