Mastering University Learning is aimed at any students wishing to improve their academic and professional efficiencies and effectiveness through a range of learning and development strategies.
Originally designed for Level 1 students making the transition from second to third level education, it has proved so successful that access has be expanded to facilitate students from any Level and faculty who want to become more self-efficient and effective both personally & professionally.
It is a skill-based module. The overall emphasis focuses on personal auditing, independent learning, communication, critical thinking, presentation and project management.
Development and refinement of these skills are embedded throughout the module. Participants are challenged, and shown how to manage their educational and professional development through a process focusing on goal setting, action orientation, and review. Through this process they learn how to modify and enhance their attitudes, behaviours and cognitive skills required to be successful in college and later in the work environment.

Learning Outcomes:

There is no Exam for this Module. Assessment is Continuous and Cumlative
However on completion of this module, the student should be able to:
1. Plan for and manage their academic workload effectively.
2 Demonstrate Self Awareness & Self management skills based on a detailed Personal Skills Audit
(These will demonstrate your range of personal traits, intelligences, cognitive, communication (verbal
& written), social skills & teamwork suitability which you employ in academic and career challenges)
3. Research, design & deliver a live presentation & complete a Project Management Report
4. Critically evaluate an academic / business article
4. Review and appraise the appropriateness of their personal learning style,
5. Identify and utilize available study support networks
6. Develop an informed approach to assessment

The purpose of which will be to enable you to

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Students will attend classes for this module and have the opportunity to engage in active learning during these sessions. There will be in-class discussion and group work to analyse module to consider lectures; critical writing and reflective learning
