The seminar series provides PhD students with opportunities to improve their scientific communication skills and deepen their knowledge within their own particular research field. In addition, the range of topics covered during the series maintains and enhances their breadth of knowledge across the Biological and Environmental Sciences. At the end of this module students should therefore be able to:
(1) produce a high quality oral presentation explaining their research topic to an audience of their peers, (2) comprehend and understand cutting-edge research seminars over a range of biological and environmental topics, (3) write an extensive and accurate review essay of a scientific research topic selected from a chosen seminar.

Written feedback will be provided on the coursework essay after grading. Verbal and written feedback will also be provided on the oral presentation, once the student has provided their own self-assessment of their recorded presentation.
