This module will develop skills in research and scientific writing through investigation of a selected heritage theme. These skills are essential in producing professional working reports in the field of World Heritage Conservation such as desk studies and evaluation reports required for work with national and international organisations. Competencies include retrieving information from published and unpublished sources, critical evaluation, collation and presentation of literature in a scientific manner. The module also provides an opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge in a specific area of interest.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this module students should be able to:
• Demonstrate research and scientific writing skills required in professional report writing;
• Identify, assess and critically reflect on existing research on a given topic in heritage conservation;
• Distinguish valid and relevant literature;
• Produce an original professional document, logically structured with evidence-based arguments demonstrating critical thinking.
