ARCH40880 Advanced GIS in Archaeology and Heritage

Academic Year 2018/2019

As you will have learnt in ARCH 48070, or via your own previous experience, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and spatial methods are a crucial part of current and future Archaeological and Heritage approaches. This module builds upon your existing foundation of GIS knowledge and explicitly explores more advanced concepts and procedures. In particular there is an emphasis on the application of analytical methods. As with all archaeological and heritage approaches at this level of study, the module also continues to develop your critical, theoretical and practical awareness. By the end of the module you should be able to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of different methods and data sources.
